Test Report Confirms Use of Beef Fat, Pig Fat, and Fish Oil in Famous Tirupati Laddus: Nation in Shock!
September 20, 2024: In a revelation that has sent shockwaves across the nation, a recent test report has alleged the use of animal fats, including beef fat, pig fat, and fish oil, in the making of the iconic Tirupati laddus. The laddus, distributed as prasadam at the revered Tirumala Tirupati temple, have been a symbol of faith for millions of devotees. The report has left devotees and citizens in disbelief, sparking a nationwide controversy.
TTD in the Eye of the Storm
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board, which oversees the operations of the temple, has come under intense scrutiny following these allegations. Questions are being raised about the integrity of the ingredients used in the laddus, which are known to be made with pure ghee. Many devotees have expressed their anger and shock, calling it a breach of faith.
Karnataka Milk Federation Clarifies Non-Supply of Ghee
As the controversy deepened, the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) issued a clarification, stating that the TTD has not purchased ghee from them in the last four years. KMF, which produces the popular Nandhini brand of ghee, stated that they were the primary supplier of ghee to the TTD before this period. A spokesperson for KMF said, “We have not supplied ghee to the Tirupati temple since 2020. The Nandhini brand ghee was in use prior to this, but we have had no transactions since the TTD made changes to its sourcing policies.”
The clarification also pointed fingers at the change in suppliers, which coincided with a political shift in Andhra Pradesh.
Political Blame Game: CM Chandrababu Naidu's Explosive Claim
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, now in the opposition, made explosive allegations in the wake of the report. Naidu claimed that the use of animal fats in the preparation of the laddus dates back to the tenure of the late Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR).
Naidu, who has been a vocal critic of the previous YSR rule, stated, “The purity of the Tirupati laddus was compromised during YSR’s regime. Our government had ensured the use of pure ingredients, but the current findings prove that the malpractice may have begun under YSR’s tenure. We always used Nandhini Ghee, but once we were out of power, these changes started.”
Naidu’s statement has added a political dimension to the controversy, with his party, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), accusing the ruling YSR Congress Party of negligence and corruption in temple affairs.
Temple Authorities Respond
The TTD board, however, has strongly denied the allegations. A spokesperson for the board stated, “We categorically deny the use of any animal fat in the preparation of the laddus. The laddus are made using the purest ingredients, and we adhere to strict standards. We are conducting our own investigation and will take appropriate legal action against those spreading false information.”
The board has urged devotees to remain calm, assuring them that steps are being taken to verify the authenticity of the test report and its source.
Public Outrage and Calls for Investigation
The test report has triggered widespread outrage, particularly among religious devotees who view the laddus as sacred offerings. Social media platforms have been flooded with reactions, with many demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. Some religious groups have already called for protests, while others are seeking government intervention to ensure transparency.
“This is an assault on our faith,” said a devotee in Tirupati. “We trust the temple authorities to maintain the sanctity of our religious offerings. If these allegations are true, it would be a devastating blow to millions of people.”
What's Next?
As the controversy escalates, both religious and political tensions are running high in Andhra Pradesh. The state government is expected to order a probe into the matter, and the Central Government may also step in due to the sensitive nature of the issue.
For now, the nation waits with bated breath to see if the famous Tirupati laddus, a beloved part of temple tradition, have truly been compromised—or if this is part of a broader political conspiracy aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the TTD.
