Despite being Asia’s fastest-growing major economy, India is grappling with an unprecedented employment crisis. A staggering 83% of the country’s unemployed workforce is between the ages of 15 and 29. The Indian paradox is not the lack of jobs, but the scarcity of jobs that remain vacant due to a lack of skilled professionals. By realigning education with industry needs, fostering a culture of lifelong learning, and investing in skills development, India can transform its demographic dividend into a formidable economic asset. The time for action is now, and with the right strategies in place, India has the potential to emerge as a global powerhouse where employment and employment opportunities go hand in hand, says the author.
