A freak fire and LPG cylinder explosion damaged eight shanties at a Thane construction site on Thursday evening. The fire broke out around 5 pm at a transit camp for workers at an under-construction site in Kasarwadavli. No injuries were reported as workers and firemen quickly controlled the blaze before it could spread further. Officials stated that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire, which was caused by a mini LPG gas cylinder explosion at the transit camp. As a precautionary measure, neighbouringShanties were evacuated, and domestic gas cylinders were safely removed. The actual cause of fire will be investigated, informed officials.
