A Peshawar-bound train in Pakistan’s Balochistan province came under heavy gunfire on Tuesday. During the resistance, six military personnel were killed, while over 100 passengers have been taken into custody. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a militant separatist group, claimed responsibility for the attack and said they had taken hostages from the train, including security forces. The provincial government has instructed local authorities to take \”emergency measures,\” according to local media reports. The incident could be a possible terrorist incident, according to a spokesperson for the provincial government. The BLA has not yet commented on the reports of its involvement in the attack. The attack occurred on a Jaffar Express train going from Quetta to Peshawar, Dawn quoted a Balochistani government spokesperson as saying. The train was carrying over 100 people at the time of the attack, the spokesperson said, adding that the passengers are now in the custody of the BLA. The BlA has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
