Air India Flight 126 was making its way over Greenland on March 5. 11 out of its 12 toilets broke down, with the only working toilet located in the business class section for some 300 passengers to use. The flight was already five hours into its 14-hour journey over Greenland. Air India promised refunds, but some passengers claimed that securing compensation was proving to be a difficult and confusing process. The aircraft returned to Chicago’s ORD airport after being airborne for over ten hours, according to information available on flight tracking website flightradar24.com. The passengers and crew disembarked normally and were provided with accommodation to minimise inconvenience, an Air India spokesperson told Moneycontrol. In addition, full refunds on cancellation and complimentary rescheduling are also being offered to passengers if opted by them, the spokesperson said. The passenger had booked a first-class ticket for a relative to attend a wedding in India using Avianca’s LifeMiles program. “We’re now in the midst of customer service hell withAvianca, Lifemiles, and Air India to figure out how to get a refund for the miles ticket,” they told View From the Wing.
