Alejandro Davidovich Fokina battles past Denis Shapovalov in Mexican Open semi-final. The Spaniard will face Czech eighth seed Tomas Machac in the championship clash. Machac is the second Czech finalist in the Mexican Open history, following Jiri Novak, who won the 1998 title. The Czech rising star, playing in just his second ATP final after Geneva 2024, is on the verge of a career milestone. A title win would not only earn him his first ATP crown but also make him the first Czech player in the ATP Top 50 since Tomas Berdych in 2018. He also joins an elite group of Czech ATP 500 finalists, alongside Radek Stepanek, Jiri Vesely and JiriNovak. The final will take place at the Arena GNP Seguros in Acapulco on March 1-2. The winner will be crowned the winner of the 2018 ATP World Tour Finals in New York City on March 4-5.
