Congress staged widespread protests across Rajasthan on Saturday, condemning cabinet minister Avinash Gehlot’s remark on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The demonstrations also opposed the suspension of Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasra and five other MLAs. Similar protests erupted in major cities, including Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, and Ajmer. The Congress party announced that if their demands are not met, they will escalate their protests across the state in the coming days. In Sikar, police resorted to a mild lathi charge as Congress workers attempted to enter the district collector’s office. In UdaIPur, protestors threatened to resume demonstrations on Monday if the govt failed to revoke the suspended MLAs’ suspensions. In Chittorgarh, Congress leader Surendra Singh Jadawat urged party workers to gear up for a march to Jaipur,. emphasizing that the fight for justice for their suspended MLas must continue.
