The proposed hike in tariffs at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), operated by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), is set to result in a 1.5-2% increase in domestic airfares. The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) is reviewing the tariff revision, which will impact both passenger service fees and landing charges.
Airlines are expected to pass on the increased costs to passengers, making flights from India’s busiest airport slightly more expensive. The hike comes amid rising operational costs and infrastructure expansion at IGI Airport.
Industry experts believe the increase will have a marginal effect on passenger demand but is necessary to support the airport’s growing capacity and service upgrades.
