Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan criticises DMK for ‘ruining future of students’ Chief Minister MK Stalin tells him to ‘mind his words’ and says he ‘thinks of himself as a king’ The row is over the National Education Policy and its three-language formula. Tamil Nadu views this as ‘imposition of Hindi’ and has called it ‘Hindi imposition’ by ‘entitled bigots’ The minister’s remarks triggered a row in the Lok Sabha that was then adjourned for 30 minutes. The DMK hit back with a privilege motion K Kanimozhi submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The row then continued outside the Parliament building as DMK MPs continued to protest against the minister’s comment. The minister later withdrew his comments and they were expunged from Lok Sabha’s records. His remarks followed his earlier claim that Tamil Nadu had agreed to fully implement the new education policy, only to backtrack later. He also claimed \”internal bickering\” in the DMK – which has dominated recent elections in the state, including the 2021 Assembly and 2024 Lok Sabha polls – had led to this stand-off.
