Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has launched a series of attacks against Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter). Musk accused Zelensky, without presenting evidence, of running a “massive graft machine feeding off the dead bodies of Ukrainian soldiers.”
In one of his posts, Musk shared a Vogue magazine cover featuring Zelensky and his wife, Olena Zelenska, from a photoshoot by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. Musk criticized Ukraine’s leadership, questioning Zelensky’s legitimacy after the country postponed elections, citing interference from pro-Russian political parties.
“Zelensky cannot claim to represent the will of the people of Ukraine unless he restores freedom of the press and stops canceling elections!” Musk stated.
The Tesla CEO also blamed Zelensky for the death of American filmmaker Gonzalo Lira, who died in a Ukrainian prison, further escalating tensions. “He did this while kids are dying in trenches on the war front,” Musk wrote while sharing the Vogue photo of Zelensky and his wife.
Musk’s comments have sparked widespread debate, with some supporting his statements and others condemning them as baseless accusations.
