For the first time, newly elected presidents of comunidades were given training on the roles, responsibilities, and legal provisions under the Code of Comunidade. The administrator of communidade, central zone, Jayesh Mayenkar, administered the oath to the 29 presidents, who then swore in other office bearers. He said the training aims to ensure governance, financial prudence, and discipline in the functioning of com Unidades. Recent comuniedade elections were held across the Central Zone’s 60 com unidades, with successful polls in 15 of 32 comunodades in Tiswadi and 14 of 28 comUnidades in Ponda. “In the remaining comunisedes, elections could not be conducted due to lack of quorum,” said Mayen Kar, who administered the training to the new presidents of the com Unieds in the Central zone of Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka. The initiative marks the beginning of a structured approach to governance, ensuring that our comunids leaders are well equipped to serve their communities effectively, said Mayankar.
