Goa’s state capital Panaji sweltered under a high of 36 degrees celsius on Sunday, surpassing the normal temperature by four degrees. Relative humidity also saw an uptick, climbing to 69%, up by 9% from previous days, making the heat feel even more oppressive. The city, along with the rest of Goa, faces an extended period of dry weather, as IMD Goa forecasts no relief from the heat for the entire week. The IMD has issued a dry weather forecast for both the districts till Feb 22, with shallow to moderate fog expected in the mornings until Feb 18. With no major rainfall expected, residents are bracing for more hot and dry conditions throughout the week. In addition to the heat, the minimum temperature for the day in Panaji was recorded at 21.6 degrees c Celsius. The winds were light, blowing at 3.7 km/h from the west. Currently, easterly winds dominate the lower levels of the atmosphere over the state.
