India is a culturally diverse country, and this shows in the innumerable different ways that individuals greet one another in its diverse states. As much as \”Namaste\” is common knowledge, there exist specific greetings per state that signify local tradition and culture. People from the following states greet with the word that has same meaning but the language, dialect and the tone varies. People in West Bengal also use \”Nomoshkar,\” whose form is very much like Assam’s but exemplifies Bengali culture in terms of politeness and warmth towards others. Many of these greetings are derived from deep culture rooted in worshipping god or their god by worshipping the god of the state, which reaffirm the unity of the citizens in the state. In Bihar, people greet each other with \”Junachal Pradesh,\” which means \”Victory to India,\” which is used on formal occasions and in celebrations of the various tribes in Bihar. In Andhra Pradesh, the greeting \”Nemaskaram\” is used, which translates to \”I bow to you.\” This expression signifies respect and acknowledges the divine within the other person, enhancing its spiritual essence.
