India’s three leading skill-gaming industry bodies have jointly signed a ‘Code of Ethics’ The framework is based on global best practices and aims to implement responsible gaming and advertising policies. This includes measures such as age-gating, adopting stringent KYC (Know Your Customer), and enabling user-set spending limits and self-exclusion. This initiative comes at a time when India still lacks a central regulatory framework for the burgeoning real-money gaming (RMG) sector that is currently navigating through a turbulent period. AIGF, EGF, and FIFS had previously signed a voluntary Code of Ethics in December 2023 as part of an initiative led by the influential industry body, the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) The new framework is a separate initiative, jointly formulated by the three skill- gaming industry bodies. It also comes a month after these federations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Advertising Standards Council of India to address the growing concern over illegal betting and gambling advertisements by offshore entities.
