Jammu and Kashmir MP Engineer Rashid seeking custody parole to attend Parliament session. Delhi court rejected the plea and posted the order on Rashid’s regular bail plea on March 19. Rashid has been lodged in Tihar jail since 2019 after he was arrested by the NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in a 2017 terror funding case. The second part of Parliament’s Budget session would begin on March 10 and end on April 4. The Delhi High Court on February 24 directed the sessions judge to expeditiously decide the bail plea of Rashid in the case. It was passed in view of a December 24, 2024 order, by which the sessions court requested the district judge to transfer the case to a court designated to try lawmakers. The NIA filed a chargesheet against several persons, including Kashmiri separatist leader Yasin Malik, Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin.
