“JioHotstar, a joint venture between Reliance and Disney, is now official. The new streaming powerhouse offers the content libraries of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar. The combined platform offers over 300,000 hours of content in 10 Indian languages. It boasts a user base of 500 million viewers. JioHot star subscription plans begin at Rs 149 for three months with ads. An ad-free premium tier is available for Rs 499. Existing Jio Cinema subscribers will automatically transition to Jio hotstar once their current subscriptions expire. The Jiocinema app will be discontinued. For those who have already purchased both the subscriptions, the company has this clarification (as seen on the app): Congrats! You’ve been upgraded to JIOHotstar Premium. Your existing Premium Annual Plan will continue as usual. (Notably, our Jio cinema monthly plan is expiring on February 28. This means that if your Jio cinemas plan is ending on a different date, your JIOCinemA & complimentary Jiohotstar Premium subscriptions will expire on that particular date)”
