Kolkata Police register new suo motu case over objectionable wall graffiti in campus. Two students were injured and hospitalised after being allegedly hit by the vehicle of the West Bengal Education Minister Bratya Basu. Progressive Democratic Students’ Federation (PDSF), a students’ wing with ultra-left leanings, has claimed credit for those wall graffiti. The graffiti were pertaining to the controversial claims on \”Azad Kashmir\” and \”Free Palestine\” The city police have issued fresh summons to some students of the university in this connection for the purpose of questioning. The ruckus broke out within the university campus on March 1 when the Education Minister’s car was allegedly stopped after it entered the campus, and a scuffle followed. He was taken to the state-run S.S.K.M. Medical College and Hospital and was discharged later. The protesting students alleged that while Minister Basu decided to leave the campus due to the protests, his vehicle deliberately hit two protesting students, following which they were severely injured and had to be hospitalised. The students were demanding immediate elections for the university’s students’ council.
