Lalit Modi had applied with India’s Ministry of External Affairs for surrendering his Indian passport. Lalit Modi fled India in 2010 after agencies unearthed his alleged role in embezzlement of crores during his stint as IPL commissioner. Vanuatu Prime Minister Jotham Napat reportedly ordered the cancellation of passport saying that Lalit Narendra is attempting to avoid the extradition to India. Napat said that any had the Interpol issued an alert, Lalitndra’s citizenship application would have been rejected ‘automatically’ “Holding a Vanuaton passport is a privilege, not a right,” Napat added. The Vanuatan PM spoke about India’S two requests to Interpol urging an alert against LalitModi. However, both these requests were turned down. The development comes days after the IPO founder had applications with the Indian High Commission in London for surrendereding his passport. After fleeing India, Lalita Modi had been living in London quite comfortably. He often posts photos on social media vacationing in exotic locations. Recently, he had posted his holiday snaps from Monaco.
