“Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jalyx Hunt fined $5,690 for unsportsmanlike conduct. NFL has a policy of fining players for actions that appear violent, such as shooting a gun or arrow. Hunt mimicked an archer shooting a bow and arrow after sacking Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The fine will be imposed on his $795,000 rookie base salary in 2024 due to a controversial celebration during a game involving two Hunt-adjacent Mahomes takedowns, including a near-kickout by a referee with an air punch. Hunt was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round of the 2024 NFL draft, becoming the first player to be drafted in school’s history. He finished his two-year Houston Christian career with 133 tackles, 20.5 tackles-for-loss and 13.5 sacks. The Eagles celebrated their Super Bowl LIX victory with a parade down Broad Street and a rally at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. He was selected to the 2024 Senior Bowl and became the first players from his school ever to be so honored, as well as one of only four from the FCS to be invited that year. Hunt recorded a half-sack in Super BowlLIX, a 40–22 win over the Chiefs.”
