Police arrested Ashish Sharma, a director of a private firm, from Tilak Marg, New Delhi. Sharma duped Harvinder Singh Dhingra, a resident of Pushkar Enclave, Paschim Vihar, of Rs 8.25 crores. Sharma was declared a proclaimed offender in 2019. He worked as a technician at private firm in Noida during the period of the offence, he was the director of the company. He was arrested by a team under Inspector Sunil Kumar Kalkhande, and they nabbed the accused near a bus stop on TilakMarg. He is accused of fraudulently obtaining property in West Punjabi Bagh for a total of Rs 12 crore. The property was already mortgaged with two banks, police said, adding that a case was registered in the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in 2016. The accused was absconding for nine years before he was arrested in February this year, according to police.
