Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday handed over OCI cards to Mauritius President, First Lady. PM Modi will participate in the celebrations of the 57th National Day of Mauritius on Wednesday as the chief guest. Prime Minister Modi laid a wreath at the memorial and also planted a tree along with Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam. He also paid homage to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolsam, the first Prime Minister and the founding father of the island nation. PM Narendra Modi has described his two-day visit as a \”wonderful opportunity\” to engage with a valued ally and strengthen bilateral ties. The Indian Prime Minister is also scheduled to interact with the Indian diaspora in Mauritius. He will also be hosting a State banquet in honour of PM Modi onTuesday evening. The two leaders exchanged views on deepening the special and close bilateral ties between India and Mauritius, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
