The 2016 Marathi blockbuster Sairat, a romantic drama tragedy starring Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, became a nationwide sensation upon its release. Despite being made on a modest budget of Rs 4 crore, the film shattered records at the box office, amassing an impressive Rs 110 crore worldwide. In India alone, it crossed the Rs 100 crore mark, solidifying its status as the highest-grossing Marathi film of all time. The phenomenal success of S airat led to multiple remakes across various languages, including the 2018 Bollywood adaptation Dhadak, featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, which also garnered significant attention and praise. The film will be re-released in theatres on March 21, 2025, offering audiences a chance to relive its powerful storytelling and timeless music once again.
