Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra attack the Centre and the Railways. They accuse them of negligence and failure to manage the crisis. 18 people died and several others were injured in the stampede at the New Delhi Railway Station. Mr Gandhi blamed the government and the railway administration for failing to anticipate the crowd surge, particularly given the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. He said: \”The government and administration should ensure that no one has to lose their life due to mismanagement and negligence\” He added: \”I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured\” The incident once again highlights the failure of the railways and the insensitivity of the government,\” Mr Gandhi said. The death toll has now risen to 18, with several others injured and a number of people still being treated in hospital in New Delhi and other parts of the country.
