Residents of Ghazipur called for a protest and blocked the Akshardham-Ghaziabad Road. The 32-year-old man was shot dead when he was riding a two-wheeler. Unidentified assailants in a Baleno car opened fire on him and fled the scene. Delhi Traffic Police also issued a travel advisory stating that traffic movement is affected on both carriageways of NH-24 due to the protest. Commuters heading towards Indirapuram, Ghaziabad are advised to avoidNH-24 and take Noida Link Road as an alternate route. The murder triggered widespread protests in the area. With slogans calling for quick action, locals blocked the main road. “He was shot because he raised his voice. He died on the spot. His father is no longer around. The family wants justice,” said one of the protesters. Two people have been detained, and further probe in on. ‘He belonged to the Gujjar community. He lived with his maternal uncle. He had three younger brothers. He spoke out against people running illegal businesses and collecting money by force,’ he said.
