Russia launched 267 drones on Ukraine overnight, the highest number recorded since the invasion began in February 2022. Ukrainian defences intercepted 138 drones, while 119 crashed without causing damage. In a separate Russian attack late Saturday, a missile strike in the central city of Kryvyi Rih killed one man and injured five others. Russia invaded Ukraine on 24 February 2022, claiming it needed to defend itself against NATO expansion. Since then, the war has caused widespread destruction, with both sides carrying out airstrikes and drone attacks regularly. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry reported that it had destroyed 20 Ukrainian drones launched overnight. It did not specify what happened to the remaining 10, but a separate military report confirmed that multiple regions, including Kyiv, were hit. It is not known if the drone attacks were carried out by the Russian military or the Ukrainian air force, which has been involved in the war since the start of the invasion. The Russian military has not commented on the Ukrainian claims, but has said it has destroyed 20 drones.
