Sensory room at Terminal 2 Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) designed to support neurodivergent passengers and individuals with sensory sensitivities. Located near the 080 International Lounge on Level 4, the space provides a calm and controlled environment to ease the stress of air travel. The sensory room features ambient lighting elements like a bubble tube and galaxy projector, an art mural with soothing patterns, and interactive elements such as floor projections, a ball pool, and a sensory toy station. Studies suggest that even brief exposure to a sensory-friendly space can significantly reduce stress, making travel smoother for neurodiversgent passengers, including both children and adults. The thoughtfully curated space ensures adaptability and inclusivity, providing a stress-free experience for passengers with Sensory sensitivities, BIAL said. Backed by behavioural science and occupational therapy research, the sensory room is designed to provide a therapeutic and engaging environment, the airport said. It was developed in collaboration with Incluzza, a thought leader in disability inclusion, this initiative highlights the importance of sensory- friendly spaces in enhancing emotional regulation and overall travel experiences.
