Shah Rukh Khan recently landed in trouble for starring in an alleged misleading advertisement of Vimal Pan Masala. However, the actor recently received a huge relief in another case. The actor’s income-tax return was disputed by the tax officer, who questioned his declared income of Rs 83.42 crore. The officer denied his foreign tax credit claims for UK taxes paid and reassessed his income at Rs 84.17 crore. Notably, this reassessment occurred over four years after the 2012-13 assessment year. A two-member ITAT panel, Sandeep Singh Karhail and Girish Agrawal, ruled that the reassessment was invalid. They declared the re-assessment proceedings legally flawed on multiple grounds. The tribunal allegedly overturned a reassessment proceedings for the 2011-2012 financial year, ending a long-standing tax dispute. The reports have suggested that SRK had an agreement with Red Chillies Entertainments, stating that 70% of the film, Ra.One, shooting would take place in the UK. To facilitate this, his payment was routed through UK-based Winford Production. The tax authorities alleged that this arrangement resulted in revenue loss for India.
