Stand-up comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi’s scheduled performances in Lucknow were cancelled due to law and order concerns raised by Lucknow police. Assistant commissioner of police (Vibhuti Khand) Radha Raman Singh cited security concerns as the primary reason for denying the no-objection certificate (NOC) Vice-chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh State Women’s Commission, Aparna Yadav, had written to the UP DGP on February 14 requesting a ban on Bassi’s upcoming show. The commission raised serious concerns about the content of his performances, citing derogatory remarks against women. Bassi, 32, from Meerut, is a law graduate from Lucknow’S Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University. He began his career in 2017 and has amassed over 3.7 million YouTube subscribers and 1.8 million Instagram followers. The shows were set to take place at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan (IGP) at 3 pm and 7 pm on Saturday.
