Supreme Court slams J&K administration for ‘harassing’ daily wage workers over regularisation. Supreme Court refrained from recommending strong disciplinary actions against officials or imposing exemplary costs on the delinquent officers. The contempt proceedings are still pending before the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh HC, the court said. The inaction of the officers of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is \”shocking and prima facie contemptuous,\” the court added. The Supreme Court dismissed the Special Leave Petition of theUnion Territory of. Jammu& Kashmir. The case was heard by Justice Surya Kant of the Supreme Court of India at the Srinagar Registry of the High Court. The petition was filed on behalf of a group of daily wage worker from the state, who had not been regularised since May 2007. The court ordered the contempt proceedings to be taken up on a weekly basis to ensure majesty and sanctity of law are well maintained. The matter was adjourned until March 10, 2014.
