The Edmonton Oilers were riding high after taking a 5-1 lead, and then it seemed they would hardly hold on for what looked like a win. But, after the almost unexpectedly miraculous comeback by the Dallas Stars, the game became a thrilling nail-biter, leaving the fans in intense frustration again. The Oilers roared out on their game, dominating the first two periods with Zach Hyman, Viktor Arvidsson, and Connor Brown scoring. It all seemed to be going well for the Oilers from that point on- until it didn’t. The win that was perhaps snatched from them also exposed some glaring truths. With big guns like Draisaitl and Brown showing up, Edmonton had the potential to flatten any opponent. But defensive lapses will bring them down at the end of the day. If they want to be treated like serious determined contenders, then they had better start learning how to press the advantage home. For now, they will take the win; however, they know it shouldn’t have been this tough.
