The EPA said Friday it had fired 388 probationary workers. The latest staff dismissals at the EPA come on top of the 168 let go last week from the agency’s environmental justice office. House Democrat Jared Huffman said Friday that 3,400 employees had been dismissed from the US Forest Service and 2,300 from the department of interior. The dismissals are part of a wave of terminations across the federal govt this week spurred by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency. The EPA said the terminations were made after \”a thorough review of agency functions in accordance with President Trump’s executive orders,\” according to a statement from the EPA. The department of government efficiency was set up by Musk’s company, Tesla, in response to the White House’s executive order to end diversity, equality and inclusion programs in the federal government. The White House said the order was to end programs related to diversity, Equality and Inclusion, and to end all programs that promote diversity and equality in all aspects of the government.
