The Kodagu University Welfare Committee held a meeting in response to concerns about the possible closure of the two-year-old institution. The committee strongly opposed the state government’s plan to shut down the university, arguing that financial constraints were an unjust reason. They highlighted that the university owns 100 acres of land, has good infrastructure, and is affiliated with 25 colleges, making the closure an unreasonable decision. During the meeting, the committee decided to send a delegation to meet with Chief minister Siddaramaiah to present their case. The members agreed to start a non-partisan campaign, putting aside personal interests to protect the future of the university. Notable attendees at the meeting included K.S. Krishnegowda, Napanda Muthappa, Arunakumari, Shobha Prakash, M.T. Baby, Deepak, K. S. Murthy, and M.N. Chandramohan, who all pledged their support. The group will work to raise awareness, gather public support, and coordinate efforts to prevent the closure.
