The Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday announced signing the free agent, Tyler Alexander. The contract worth $1 million for one-year is a strategic move with the aim to address the pitching needs of the team, following the roster changes and injuries. Alexander to the Brewers can be a versatile arm, bringing experience as a reliever and starter. The decision made by the Brewers to bring the left-hander on board comes as they place Robert Gasser on the 60-day injured list. Gasser is now recovering from Tommy John surgery. Alexander’s contract comes with performance bonuses. It can increase the earnings by approx. $ 1 million, based on his pitched innings. His ability to function as a starter or a reliever offers Milwaukee much-needed flexibility while they assemble the pitching staff for the upcoming season. Alexander, who was selected by the Detroit Tigers, has built a solid career with 6 Major League seasons. He has cumulated 4.55 ERA across the 143 appearances. The 30-year-old spent the 2024 season with the Tampa Bay Rays but did not receive a contract earlier in the offseason from the team. Alexander posted a 6-5 record playing 23 games last year. He had a 5.10 ERA, over the 23 appearances, that included 9 starts. With his ability to pitch multiple innings, Alexander last year with the career-high 107.2 inning, struck out 90 batters out, allowing 24 walks.
