Experts believe the tiger became entangled in a snare used by poachers to catch wild boars. The snare might have been intended for a boar, and the tiger was an unintended victim. However, the possibility of poaching cannot be entirely discounted. The carcass of another tiger was unearthed in the Karakati area, within the Pali range of Umaria district’s Forest Division, just two weeks ago. Forest officials have ruled out poaching as all body parts of the animal were intact.
