U.S. and Ukrainian officials will meet after the Oval Office meeting between Zelenskyy, Trump and JD Vance. Saudi Arabia under its assertive Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been positioning itself as an ideal location for possible peace negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow. The location for the talks is Jeddah, a port city on the Red Sea. It’s not clear why the kingdom picked Jedda as opposed to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital city where the initial Russia-U.N. talks took place on Feb. 18, but it has hosted other diplomatic engagements in the past and is home to royal palaces. The talks will take place in a tightly controlled, tightly controlled place with relative privacy for talks to take place with U.S., U.K. and Russian officials. If the talks reach some sort of understanding acceptable to Trump, that could accelerate his administration’s push to talks. It could also draw Trump to the kingdom for his first foreign trip through through this term through possible investments and other possible meetings.
