US military plane transporting second batch of illegal Inddian immigrants landed at Amritsar. Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann claimed that his appeal had been partially successful as the US flight would land at the passenger terminal rather than at the cargo terminal, unlike Feb 5. Mann visited the Sri Guru Ram Dass International Airport to oversee arrangements for the deportees scheduled to likely arrive Saturday night. He said the state govt would transport all Punjab residents to their native places by road. He also offered to assist deportees from Haryana to get home, if they so desired. The BJP retaliated by criticising his govt’s performance. They questioned the govt’s handling of illegal travel agents, its failure to generate employment in the state, and several other significant issues. Apart from this, Punjabi netizens also criticised the Punjab CM for not speaking up when the first plane carrying deportees landed at the holy city. At that time, Congress MLAs Pargat Singh, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and AAP MP Malwinder Singh Kang had raised the very arguments Mann put forth along with the Valentine Day 2025.
