Uttarakhand Governor Lt. General (Retd.) Gurmit Singh, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, BJP leader Sambit Patra, and renowned Sufi singer Kailash Kher participated in the holy ritual. They also hailed the immaculate arrangements at the mela ground and credited the state administration for successfully managing the world’s largest religious gathering. A special prayer ceremony was held for India’s victory over Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy. The holy ritual is expected to last until February 23, 2025. The festival is one of the biggest religious gatherings in the world, with millions of devotees expected to take the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Uttar Pradesh. It is the largest Hindu festival of the year, followed by the Durga Puja and the Natya Shraddha festival in Bihar and Uttarakhand. The last day of the Maha Kumbh is February 22, 2025, and it will be followed by a festival of puja and aarti in the city of Varanasi on February 23 and 24.
