WWE Hall of Famer Brian James is the new co-writer of Smackdown. The hit show just increased its duration to three hours and will continue with this time format until June 2025. The lead writer for the SmackDown brand was John Swikata, but James is now set to join him in the role. James was previously released from WWE in early 2022 as part of a restructuring of the NXT brand. He returned to the brand in August of that year as the new Senior Vice President of Live Events. He’s a former Marine and entered WWE in 1994 as The Roadie and explored quite a few roles. The “Red brand” of WWE, Monday Night RAW is also going through a telecast change as it has moved from Comcast USA Network to Netflix in January onwards. This shift aims to increase viewership and offers enhanced convenience and better offline features to viewers. It was revealed early this year, that the “Blue Brand” show of WWE,. Smack down is set to be extended to become a three-hour-long show. This expansion of its duration is seen as a part of WWE’s partnership with the global streaming platform Netflix.
