Maha Kumbh expected to boost India’s GDP growth, says CEA Nageswaran. India’s GDP growth picked up to 6.2 per cent in the third quarter (Q3) of FY25. The improvement was driven by higher rural consumption, aided by a favourable monsoon, and increased government spending, according to data released by the government on February 28. Meanwhile, India’s fiscal deficit reached 74.5 per cent of the annual target by the end of January 2025, as per data from the Controller General of Accounts (CGA). In absolute terms, the fiscal deficit stood at Rs 11.69 lakh crore during the April-January period of fiscal year 2024-25.
