A fortune teller in China who predicted he might die in his 50s was killed by his lover at the very same age. The man, named Zhou, worked as a fortune-teller in Nanchong, Sichuan province in southwestern China. He died in 2017 from paraquat poisoning, a highly toxic and fast-acting herbicide, known to be particularly harmful to the lungs, kidneys and liver. Mr Zhou’s mistress, surnamed Jing, took his life by soaking his underwear with poison, leading to his body rotting. Ms Jing was sentenced to 14 years for intentional homicide in September 2024, and is serving a 14-year prison sentence. The couple met in 2011 after Ms Jing’s mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and Mr Zhou helped her \”resolve her calamity\” The couple later developed a romantic relationship, during which Mr Zhou repeatedly made Ms Jing pregnant and forced her to have abortions. However, he refused to marry her and even lied about having cancer in hopes she would leave him.
