A report by the All India Game Developers Forum (AIGDF), Coral Recruit, and M-League revealed that women constitute only 12-14% of India’s gaming workforce. Their presence is even more limited in technical roles, accounting for only 6-9%, and in leadership positions, where female participation is under 10%. The report suggests addressing this gender disparity by promoting stronger STEM education, implementing inclusive hiring practices, and offering mentorship and leadership training. It also highlights the business benefits of gender diversity, pointing out that companies with diverse teams tend to perform better both financially and strategically. \”The gaming industry holds tremendous potential for growth, and women have a critical role to play in its evolution,\” said Namratha Swamy, COO, Mobile Premier League (MPL), in a statement. \”By bringing women in, we don’t just benefit women – we enrich the industry as a whole,\” said Swamy. \”This is the moment for us to push boundaries and break the cycle of under-representation,\” said Mabel Addis, founder of Women in Games.
