Vijayawada, July 28 – In a remarkable event, fishermen from Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district reeled in a massive catch on Sunday, pulling a 1,500 kg fish from the sea off the state’s coast.
The fishermen, who had set out on their journey three days earlier, returned to the Gilakaladindi harbor in Machilipatnam with the enormous fish, known locally as the Teku fish. The sheer size of the catch astonished the fishermen, who had to call in a crane to assist in bringing the fish ashore.
As news of the extraordinary catch spread, a large number of locals flocked to the harbor to witness the spectacle. Curious villagers captured the moment on their mobile phones, snapping photographs and recording videos of the giant fish.
Local traders from Chennai quickly expressed interest in the massive catch and reportedly purchased the fish from the fishermen.
This event brings back memories of 2020 when another colossal fish, a giant stingray weighing approximately three tonnes, was captured by fishermen in the same district.
The capture of such an enormous fish not only highlights the rich marine biodiversity of Andhra Pradesh’s coastal waters but also underscores the challenges and triumphs of the local fishing community.
