Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) is marking his 71st birthday today. BRS leaders and supporters have organised various service activities to commemorate the occasion. However, the atmosphere turned tense late Sunday night as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) began removing flexi banners and flags put up by the party’s supporters in the city. The GHMC’s actions were reportedly in line with special orders from the Congress government, leading to protests from BRS ranks. On Monday, GHMC staff, including Disaster Response Force (DRF) personnel, continued dismantling the flexis. The removals sparked heated exchanges between municipal staff and BRS workers, escalating tensions in several parts of Hyderabad. KCR is set to meet with party leaders on February 19 to discuss the recent political climate and outline plans to hold the government accountable for its unfulfilled promises. The BRS is expected to ramp up its protests against the government, which is already facing mounting pressure over its governance. The party has been vocal in its criticism of the Congressgovernment, particularly over unmet promises to farmers and the handling of the BC caste census, which BRS claims was poorly conducted.
