M Maharashtra reported two more deaths linked to Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) this year. One each in Kolhapur and Nagpur – taking the state’s toll from the neurological infection to 21 and the country’s fatality count to 25. Pune, where the cluster started on Jan 9, has witnessed the highest caseload and the maximum number of deaths at 11. Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Bengal account for a death each. The octogenarian was the second GBS casualty from KolhapUR’s Shahu Mill Colony and the fourth in the district. The 32-year-old man died in Nagpur on Friday. He was on ventilator support at the time of his death on Feb 19. He is the third person to die of GBS in the Nagpur area this year and the second in the state in the last three months. The cluster started in Pune on January 9 and has seen 11 deaths so far.
