Remains of 2,500-3,000-year-old civilisation found in Jharkhand’s Chouparan. Ancient statues of Gautam Buddha, Buddhist goddess Tara, Marichi, Avalokiteshvara, Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, and Ganesha have also been found in the area. A proposal has been sent to the ASI’s central office for further excavations and research. Researchers from India and abroad have since visited Chou paran to study the artifacts. However, due to the lack of preservation, many of these artifacts have been lost or stolen.
