Researchers honor Leonardo DiCaprio by naming newly discovered frog after him. Phyllonastes Dicaprioi, the newly discovered species, was discovered in Ecuador’s province of El Oro. Scientists from the Ecuadorian National Institute of Biodiversity, Catholic University of Ecuador, and San Francisco University of Quito (USFQ) found the species as part of a research in which they identified six other new frog species. This isn’t even his first frog honor, though! An endangered longnose harlequin frog in Ecuador was unofficially named \”Leonardo Di Caprio’s harlequins frog\” when he funded conservation efforts in the area. He also actively worked against the much-debated oil drilling initiative inuador’s Yasuni National Park, making his name synonymous with conservation work in the country. In 1998, he established the Leonardo diCaprio Foundation, which has a mission to preserve wildlife and advocate for climate change. The actor has been using his platform to safeguard nature for many years.
