Tesla to Open Its First Showroom in India at Mumbai’s BKC

Tesla is set to inaugurate its first showroom in India, securing a 4,000-square-foot space on the ground floor of a commercial tower in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The company has finalized a five-year lease agreement for this prime location, with a monthly rental of approximately ₹35 lakh.

This development signifies Tesla’s commitment to entering the Indian market, following previous delays due to high import duties and regulatory challenges. The Mumbai showroom is part of Tesla’s broader strategy to establish a presence in major Indian cities, with another showroom planned in New Delhi’s Aerocity.

In addition to securing retail spaces, Tesla has initiated recruitment for mid-level roles in India, including store managers and customer relationship managers, indicating progress in its operational setup.

While the exact opening date of the Mumbai showroom has not been disclosed, these developments underscore Tesla’s renewed efforts to tap into the Indian electric vehicle market.
