Thousands of industries in Tamil Nadu are facing billing issues. Power generated by 7,000 windmills installed 20 years ago is not being accounted for as they have not got lifetime extensions. Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Ltd (TNGECL) stopped accounting for the electricity generated by wind mills that were older than 20 years. In Tamil Nadu, there are about 20,000 Windmills with a capacity of 9,252 MW. The power-wheeling agreements are signed by chief engineers, non-conventional energy sources. This can be done by superintending engineers, which will speed up the process, says REPA chairman K Venkatachalam. The association has written to Tangedco chairman and managing director J Radhakrishnan to consider this, he says. The bill will be generated on the seventh day of every month, whether wind generation data is submitted or not, says TNGecL officials. TNGECl officials said they were yet to receive any representation from windmill owners.
