A 3.4 km stretch of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway has been opened to the public. The 212 km-long expressway, built in four phases, is set to provide a seamless connection between Delhi and Deh radun. The first 18 km, from Akshardham Temple to Loni in Ghaziabad, will remain toll-free. The expressway is expected to use an automated scanning system to deduct toll charges based on the distance traveled. There have also been discussions about introducing a toll pass system, which could potentially reduce costs for frequent travelers. Once fully opened, the expressway will significantly boost tourism and trade between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. However, many expect that the toll charges may increase, with multiple toll plazas along the way charging amounts such as INR 130, INR 90, and INR 75.
