England beat India in shootout to win the bonus point in FIH Hockey Pro League (Women) match at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. Navneet Kaur and Rutaja Dadaso Pisal scored for India while Paige Gillot and Tessa Howard found the net for England. The game ended 0-0 after four quarters and a point was awarded to both teams and the game went into a shootout with a crucial bonus point up for grabs. England received back-to-back penalty corners in the dying embers of the game and found the winner in the 56th minute. The shootout went into sudden death which was won by England 2-1 courtesy of captain Sophie Hamilton’s winning strike. The match was played at the Kalinga Stadium in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh and was part of the FIH Women’s Pro League. The tournament will run until the end of February. The final will be held in the city of Kolkata on February 28.
